Funke Akindele’s ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ concludes its phenomenal run in Nigerian cinemas, setting a new record with a staggering total gross of ₦1.4 billion.

Launched on December 15, 2023, the film achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first Nollywood project to surpass ₦1 billion in cinema earnings, having also raked in an unprecedented ₦113 million during its opening weekend.

The comedic narrative revolves around five impoverished brothers compelled to engage in a life of crime to save their ailing mother.

After an 11-week theatrical journey, data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) revealed that the film garnered a mere ₦14,745 in its last weekend, from February 23 to February 25, showing in only two cinemas.

‘A Tribe Called Judah’s ultimately grossed , ₦1,404,207,541 with 374,552 ticket admissions.

In addition to its domestic success, the film expanded its reach internationally, screening in foreign countries such as Ghana, the United Kingdom, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Rwanda, Senegal, and Togo.

Funke Akindele now claims the top three positions for Nollywood’s highest-grossing films, with Battle on Buka Street (₦668 million) in second place and Omo Ghetto: The Saga (₦636 million) in third.
