A crowd rush which happened during the concert of Nigerian star Ahmed Ololade known as Asake at the Brixton O2 Academy in south London has left eight people in hospital.

Police were called there at about 9 pm on Thursday, during the concert.

Officers received reports that a very large number of people were trying to force their way into the venue.

The police revealed that several people were found with injuries allegedly caused by the rush.

Videos circulating on social media show a large crowd building up outside the venue.

A Twitter user claimed that over 1,000 people showed up at the venue without tickets.

In the videos, the crowd could be seen outside the venue doors, screaming, shouting, and struggling to get in.

Cdr Ade Adelekan from the Metropolitan Police said the scene will be examined by specialist officers as part of an investigation that will be carried out.

“This is an extremely upsetting incident that has left four people critically ill in hospital. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families,” he said.

The concert had to be abandoned halfway through the night.
