Davido’s Custody Battle with Sophia Momodu

Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, known as Davido, and his baby mama Sophia Momodu are currently in a legal dispute over the custody of their daughter, Imade Adeleke

He has taken Sophia to court seeking custody of their daughter, Imade Adeleke.

Legal Team

Davido’s legal team filed a motion requesting either joint custody or unrestricted visitation rights to Imade.

According to reports from Punch NG, Davido’s lawyers, Dr. Olaniyi Arijeh, Okey Barrah, and others, filed a motion in the Lagos High Court on April 17, 2024.

Basically, the aim is to grant the singer access to his daughter Imade.

The Lawsuit

Furthermore, the lawsuit, marked LD/1587PMC/2024, names Davido as the applicant and Sophia as the respondent.

In the affidavit attached to the motion, the DMW boss detailed how his relationship with Sophia led to Imade’s birth on May 14, 2015, and how they had agreed to jointly care for her.

Also, the singer asserted that he had been covering Imade’s school fees and paying the rent for their apartment.

The Woes

Davido mentioned that, out of love for his daughter, he purchased a ₦200 million apartment in a gated community in Victoria Island with impressive facilities, including a swimming pool and 24-hour power and water supply.

However, Sophia rejected the apartment and instead asked him to contribute ₦5 million annually for Imade’s accommodation.

In the affidavit, Davido also mentioned that he purchased a Range Rover for Imade and her mother to meet their transportation needs, including taking their daughter to and from school.

However, he once received a call from Imade’s school informing him that she had been absent for two weeks, prompting him to question Sophia about it.

Davido claimed that despite his efforts to support his daughter, Sophia continued to frustrate him with additional demands.

He stated that Sophia asked him to pay $800 per month for Imade’s nanny, amounting to a lump sum of $19,600 per year.

Despite his contributions, Davido noted that Sophia remained hostile towards him
