Controversial Nigerian media personality, Daddy Freeze, has sparked mixed reactions following his subtle comment on the arrest and detention of Nigerian singer, D’Banj by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission, (ICPC).

iBrandtv reports that the singer was arrested by the agency after he failed to appear for interrogation over fraud allegations.

Dbanj, was arrested on Tuesday after ICPC operatives closed in on him, forcing him to surrender himself at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

The agency accused the pop star of fraudulently diverting hundreds of millions of naira earmarked by the Nigerian government for N-Power project, an empowerment program set up by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.

Reacting to the development via a post shared on Instagram, Daddy Freeze who didn’t mention Dbanj’s name pointed out the similarity between a certain celebrity’s action and what many Nigerians accuse politicians of doing.

He wrote: “A Nigerian celeb has been called out for allegedly doing what we accuse politicians of doing… Over to you guys…”.

The comment has generated mixed reactions from social media users as some questioned him over the fear of mentioning Dbanj’s name while others claimed that the Nigerian entertainment industry is synonymous with fraud.
