It been years after the abduction of Chibok girls by Boko Haram and it seems there is still luck for parents who had lost their daughters in that attack.

According to reports, two of the Chibok schoolgirls, who were kidnapped some more than nine years ago, managed to flee the terrorists’ hideout.

On Sunday, reports said that Hauwa Mutah and Esther Markus had fled from the Sambisa Forest, as a result of heavy military operations.

A security guard revealed to Daily Trust that “one is from Chibok and the other one is from Dzilang village”.

According to a report by the director of the Joint Military Task Force’s Intelligence Unit, Operation Hadinkai, Colonel Obinna Ezuipke, 98 Chibok girls are still being held captive.

In Ezuipke’s breakdown, “57 of the 276 abducted Chibok girls escaped in 2014, while 107 girls were released in 2018.”

“The total number of girls saved now stands at 178, with 98 still being kept hostage by Boko Haram.

“Three girls were freed in 2019, two in 2021, and nine in 2022.”

The government girls secondary school in Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria, was kidnapped by the islamic terrorist organisation Boko Haram on the nights of April 14 and 15, 2014, taking 276 predominantly female pupils between the ages of 16 and 18.

The girls were there to take their physics final examinations despite the fact that the school had been shut down for four weeks owing to deteriorating security conditions before the attack.

Furthermore, 57 of the schoolgirls fled the situation immediately by jumping from the trucks they were travelling in, and other students had previously been saved by the Nigerian armed forces on multiple occasions.
