The entire nation has been thrown into celebration, as Super Eagles’ striker, Victor Osimhen, bagged the prestigious 2023 CAF Player of the Year award.
He has had an outstanding season with Napoli.
For hours, since this historic victory, Nigerians seem to have forgotten their problems.
Now, their faces beam with joy. Many have gone as far as posting Osimhen’s photos on their social media pages and DPs, expressing their joy.
Osimhen clinched the award, beating renowned players like Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint Germain.

This victory marks the first time a Nigerian has won the award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.
CAF inaugurated the new format of the awards in 1992, with Samuel Eto’o and Yaya Toure holding the record as respective four-time winners.
