The arrest of Aminu Mohammed, a 500-level student at the Federal University of Dutse in Jigawa state, has been denied by the FCT Police Command.
Reports had it that Muhammad was arrested for posting a tweet written in Hausa and accompanied by a photo of the first lady, allegedly mocking the First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari.
The tweet, written in Hausa and accompanied by a photo of the first lady, translates as “Mama has eaten poor people’s money and is now full.”
Shortly after the tweet, Muhammad was reported arrested by DSS operatives, sparking outrage on social media.
When contacted about the development, DSP Josephine Adeh, Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, told reporters she was unaware of the student’s arrest by the Police Command.
