Afrobeats artiste Asake has opened up on the delicate balance between ego and humility in the Nigerian music industry, stressing that excessive humility often leads to disrespect or being underestimated.
Taking to his official X account on Wednesday evening, the ‘Terminator’ hitmaker explained that while humility is admirable.

The realities of the entertainment business sometimes demand a bold show of confidence or even ego to command respect.
The artiste noted that ego often makes performers appear more fascinating and desirable to audiences, while humility is easily mistaken for weakness.
Also, he emphasised that fans and industry stakeholders are usually more focused on results than the process behind them.
“As an artiste, if you’re humble, they take you for granted. But if you have ego they feel like you’re not accessible then they like you more. People would rather see what you’re doing than showing them. They don’t really appreciate it. Do what you need to do and just go,” Asake wrote on X.

He further underlined that artistes should allow their results to speak louder than explanations, as the industry rewards outcomes more than effort.
