FIFA World Cup 2026 Travel Rules

Officials at the U.S. Department of State urge travellers to prepare documents early, as they stress that valid paperwork remains essential before the tournament begins.

First, travellers must secure a valid passport for entry into the United States.

It must stay valid for six months beyond their intended stay, although some national exemptions still apply.

Visa Requirements And Entry Process

Next, entry rules differ by country.

For example, Canadian and Bermudan citizens do not need additional authorisation for tourism.

Meanwhile, Visa Waiver Programme travellers can apply through ESTA.

However, other visitors, including Nigerians, must apply for a B1/B2 visitor visa.

They must complete this step before travelling for World Cup-related events.

To manage demand, officials introduced the FIFA PASS system.

It lets eligible ticket holders secure earlier visa interview appointments.

As a result, authorities aim to reduce delays during peak periods.

In addition, tournament organisers eased rules for staff.

Players, coaches, and support staff no longer pay visa bond requirements.

Still, they must meet standard entry conditions.

Moreover, the tournament will become the largest in World Cup history.

It will feature 48 teams for the first time.

Organisers will stage matches across 16 cities in North America.

Overall, they will schedule 104 matches between June and July 2026.

The final will take place at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.

Finally, Nigeria will not participate after failing to qualify. Consequently, fans lose team-based travel facilitation.

Therefore, authorities strongly advise early preparation and proper documentation for all travellers.
