Afrobeat singer and activist Seun Kuti has shared his views on prayer, stating that he does not believe in it and has never prayed in his life.
Speaking in a video broadcast via his Instagram account, Kuti said prayer does not work and described it as “childishness.”

According to him, a person’s life and actions are the true form of prayer, not words spoken publicly or aloud, which he referred to as “eye service.”
“Your life is the prayer. What you do with your life is your prayer. Your action is prayer,” he said.
Kuti also questioned the common concept of God and predestination, arguing that if everything has already been determined by God’s will, then prayers that do not align with that will cannot be answered.
He claimed religious leaders often avoid explaining this because it allows them to exploit people.
The musician added that he prefers solving his problems through action rather than prayer.
He further stated that if prayer truly solved problems, institutions like prisons and hospitals would be empty.
Seun Kuti concluded that personal choices and actions, not prayer, are what shape an individual’s life.
