About 21 people including children have been killed after a landslide hit a holiday campsite in Selangor, Malaysia.

The landslide occurred on Thursday, at a farm stay in Batang Kali township.

Rescuers spent most of Friday digging through mud to find survivors.

The manager of the farm said at least 30 children and 51 adults were registered for an overnight stay.

About 14 people are said to still be missing as a team of 700 has been working to rescue them.

The Malaysian fire department said at least four children were among those that have died.

The fire and rescue department said a 30m high slope impacted the campsite in “a tragedy”.

Local Government Development Minister, Nga Kor Ming said the operations of the camping site have been illegal.

Mr. Nga also ordered all “high-risk” camping sites – those located along rivers, waterfalls, and hillsides – across the country to be closed for seven days effective immediately.
