Nigerian gospel music community and Nollywood have been thrown into mourning following the passing of Onos Nancy Brisibi, a celebrated gospel singer and renowned soundtrack artiste.

She died at the age of 55 after battling a prolonged illness.

Her family confirmed the sad news in a statement released on Thursday, noting that she passed away on March 23, 2026.

They described her as a woman of deep faith whose music ministry inspired and uplifted countless lives.

According to the statement, Brisibi was not only a gifted vocalist but also a dedicated praise and worship leader whose voice carried a message of hope and devotion.

The family remembered her as warm, kind-hearted, and full of life, emphasizing that her legacy would endure through the many people she touched.

“She was a beautiful soul with a heart of gold,” the statement read, highlighting her unwavering faith and the joy she brought to those around her.

Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.

Brisibi is survived by her daughter, Sarah, her mother, siblings, and a wide circle of loved ones, including members of her church, LoveWorld Ministries.

Tributes have continued to pour in from across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

Nollywood actress Stella Damasus expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as painful and offering prayers for her peaceful rest.

Broadcaster Emma Ugolee also reacted, calling the news devastating, especially as he had only recently learned of her deteriorating health while preparing to celebrate her career.

Born on November 20, 1970, in Aladja, Delta State, Brisibi discovered her passion for music at a young age, beginning her journey at just nine years old.

Over the years, she rose to prominence as one of Nollywood’s most sought-after soundtrack voices, contributing to films such as Domitilla, Mortal Inheritance, Blood Money, and Shame.
