Travellers at Nigeria’s busiest airports can now enjoy free high-speed Wi-Fi, thanks to FAAN and MTN.
Last Thursday, FAAN and MTN officially launched the service at MMIA Terminal 2 in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja.
Free Wi-Fi Arrives
Immediately, passengers connected their devices to check flight updates, send messages, and stream content freely.
Moreover, FAAN Managing Director, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, described the initiative as a major step toward modernising airports.
She explained that the launch demonstrates innovation, partnership, and a new era for Nigerian aviation.
Expansion Plans
Furthermore, FAAN plans to extend free Wi-Fi to MMIA Temporary Terminal, and later to Enugu, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
Kuku emphasised that no Nigerian airport should remain offline in the 21st century, supporting the digital economy.

In addition, MTN Nigeria assured travellers that the network would remain fast, secure, and reliable for all passengers.
Consequently, passengers can enjoy real-time flight updates, seamless communication, digital inclusion, and online services without using data.
Meanwhile, airports benefit by monitoring passenger flow, reducing queues, and delivering real-time information efficiently.
Resolving Challenges
However, cybersecurity experts warn travellers to avoid sensitive transactions on public networks and to use secure connections.
Previously, disputes between FAAN and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency delayed airport Wi-Fi implementation for years.
Now, with roles clarified, airport authorities can implement digital upgrades across Nigeria’s major international gateways.
Ultimately, this service offers passengers convenience and connectivity, signalling the start of a modern, passenger-focused aviation future.
