Evisas are coming to Nigeria – and they are set to change the way you travel to the UK.
From February 25, 2026, the UK will stop issuing visa stickers in passports.
Instead, Nigerian travellers will receive UK Visit visas entirely online, giving them a secure digital record they can access whenever needed.

EVisas To Make Travel Simpler For Nigerians
For many Nigerians, this change will simplify the travel experience.
Rather than waiting for a sticker to be placed in a passport, travellers will manage their visas through a UKVI online account.
From this account, they can view, share, and prove their immigration status with just a few clicks.
Same Process, New Format
Although the delivery method is changing, the application process remains familiar.
Applicants still complete an online form, visit a Visa Application Centre to submit biometric data, and provide all necessary documents.
The key difference lies in the digital issuance, which eliminates the hassle of carrying or protecting a physical sticker.
Moreover, current visa holders do not need to act immediately.

Existing stickers remain valid until their expiry date, so travellers will not have to replace visas solely because the system is digital.
Faster, Safer, Smarter
This shift forms part of the UK’s broader effort to modernise border and immigration procedures.
Earlier reforms introduced digital visas for Nigerian students and workers in July 2025.
Now, with visit visas joining the programme, the UK actively simplifies travel for tourists and business visitors alike.
British Deputy High Commissioner Gill Lever highlighted that eVisas reduce paperwork, speed up processing, and enhance security.
Digital records cannot get lost, stolen, or tampered with, and airlines and border officials can verify a traveller’s status instantly.
Ultimately, Nigerian travellers will enjoy a smoother journey.
By replacing stickers with eVisas, the UK provides a modern, efficient, and secure way to travel — all starting with a digital record rather than a physical stamp.
