Fast-rising Nigerian singer Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known as Nanya_music has tragically died after being bitten by a cobra inside her residence in Abuja.
The young vocalist was a well-known chorister within the Abuja music and choral community.
Shr reportedly passed away on Saturday, 31 January.
This follows the snake bite, which occurred in her room.
Videos circulating on social media show a snake catcher holding a cobra said to have been found inside the late singer’s room.
In the background of the footage, voices can be heard suggesting that there may have been more snakes in the house, as Ifunanya had earlier complained that she had seen “a grown one” in the apartment.
Unconfirmed reports shared on Facebook further allege that two snakes were discovered in the house, although this has not been officially verified.
Following the news of her death, members of the Abuja choral and music community have taken to social media to mourn the singer.
Many described her passing as “not ordinary”, while others paid tribute to her exceptional vocal ability and rising career.
Several colleagues and admirers hailed Ifunanya as a rare talent with a sonorous soprano voice.
