Super Eagles forward, Salim Fago Lawal, has completed a move to Czech First Division side Viktoria Plzen, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

The 23-year-old attacker joined the Czech champions from Croatian outfit NK Istra, where he enjoyed an impressive spell, scoring 15 goals and providing two assists across competitions.

Speaking to Viktoria Plzen’s official website, Lawal expressed excitement about the move, describing it as a major step forward in his career.

He noted that the club’s consistent performances in European competitions played a key role in his decision to join.

Lawal also revealed that his recent involvement with the national team at the Africa Cup of Nations has helped keep him in top shape, adding that he is ready to make an immediate impact and eager to begin training with his new teammates.

Viktoria Plzen sporting director, Martin Vozábal, said the club moved quickly to strengthen their attacking options following the departure of Rafiu Durosinmi.

He explained that Lawal had been closely monitored during his time in the Croatian league and praised his speed and versatility, noting that he can operate both as a striker and on the wings.

Vozábal added that the club is pleased the transfer has been completed in time for Lawal to be available for the upcoming league fixtures.
