The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has successfully rescued an 84-year-old man

The man reportedly attempted to take his own life by jumping into a deep well in the Aboru community of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the agency’s Controller General, Margaret Adeseye, disclosed that preliminary findings indicated the elderly man jumped into a 140-foot-deep well.

According to the statement, the fire service received a distress call at 10:09am reporting the incident at No. 35A, Fadeyemi Street, Pipeline, Aboru.

Emergency responders were immediately dispatched to the location.

The rescue team successfully retrieved the victim alive.

They  handed him over to his family members for further care and necessary attention.

Authorities have not disclosed additional details surrounding the circumstances leading to the incident.
