The Federal Government has congratulated Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, following the massive success of her new movie, Oversabi Aunty, which has grossed N1 billion in Nigerian cinemas.

The film, released on December 19, 2025, crossed the N1 billion mark on Monday, placing it among the highest-grossing Nigerian movies of all time.
Reacting to the achievement, the government, through the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), described the milestone as a strong sign of growth in Nigeria’s creative economy.
In a statement shared by the Managing Director of the Corporation, Ali Nuhu, the NFC said the record highlights the increasing commercial strength of Nollywood.
According to the statement, Toyin Abraham has joined an elite group of filmmakers whose projects connect deeply with audiences while also performing exceptionally well at the box office.
The Corporation noted that Oversabi Aunty proves that locally rooted stories, when well-produced and properly marketed, can achieve wide reach and major impact.
The NFC also credited the film’s success to a clear understanding of the Nigerian audience, an effective distribution strategy, and the growing cinema culture across the country.
Toyin Abraham also reacted to the milestone, taking to Instagram to thank her fans and the general public for their overwhelming support, which she said made the achievement possible.
