Schools across Lagos are preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
This year, the Lagos State Examinations Board will handle registration and payment entirely online.

Consequently, school administrators began logging in on Monday, January 26, 2026, and will continue until Friday, March 27, 2026.
BECE 2026 Goes Digital
Public Junior Secondary Schools should download the Offline Data Capturing Application to register their students efficiently.
Meanwhile, private schools, Special Permission schools, and Continuing Education Centres must complete payment and registration through the portal.
Registrar Mr Adebayo Orunsolu reminded schools that they must use the newly issued School Codes for all candidates.
Registration Guidelines And Fees
In addition, he clarified that registration fees total ₦10,000 per candidate for most private and public continuing education centres.
However, Junior Secondary Schools with Special Permission or private CECs must pay ₦15,000 per candidate.
Moreover, schools should notify the Board in advance about candidates with special needs to arrange proper support.
This requirement includes students with visual impairments, albinism, or other conditions requiring extra assistance.

Furthermore, Mr Orunsolu warned that schools who register late may face penalties, and Zonal Officers will provide further instructions.
Digital Shift Improves Efficiency
The BECE remains a crucial milestone because it determines students’ readiness for senior secondary school.
By moving online, the Board allows schools to reduce errors, save time, and manage registration more efficiently.
As a result, thousands of candidates across Lagos will enjoy faster and smoother access to registration and results.
Previously, the state introduced a similar digital system through the LASUBEB teacher recruitment portal in late 2025, improving administration.
Consequently, Lagos State continues using technology to make education management more transparent and effective for schools.
Therefore, students, parents, and administrators should complete registration early to avoid unnecessary complications.
By embracing online processes, the state ensures fairness, efficiency, and accessibility for every candidate.
Ultimately, the 2026 BECE reflects Lagos’ commitment to modernising education and improving student outcomes.
