Popular Nigerian social critic VeryDarkMan has publicly criticised Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie
This follows the arrest and detention of TikTok content creator Eedie Bliss, who allegedly shared unverified claims about the actress’ family.
The controversy stems from rumours that circulated in December 2025.
The creator alleges that Mercy Johnson’s husband, Prince Henry Okojie, had purchased a mansion for another woman who reportedly became pregnant for him outside his marriage.
Also, addressing the speculation in a video, Eedie Bliss cited popular gossip blogger Cutie Juls as her source
She further alleged that Mercy Johnson was involved in actions that led to the woman’s miscarriage.
Following the video, Eedie Bliss was reportedly arrested and detained in Abuja after a petition was filed by Prince Henry Okojie.
The Backlash
Also, the arrest sparked widespread backlash on social media.
Many Nigerians questioned why legal action was taken against the TikToker rather than the original source of the claims she referenced.
Reacting to the development, VeryDarkMan condemned the detention and accused Mercy Johnson of hypocrisy.
Also, he argued that defamation is a civil matter, not a criminal offence.
He recalled how the actress previously described the arrest of Sammy, brother to actress Regina Daniels, as unlawful when he was detained over defamation allegations by Senator Ned Nwoko.
According to VeryDarkMan, Eedie Bliss is scheduled to get married on Saturday.

Also, he warned that his legal team would step in if she was not released promptly.
“If you and your husband feel defamed, take the matter to court instead of using the police to oppress people,” he said. “You cannot condemn Ned Nwoko for arresting someone over defamation and later do the same thing. This case is even different because the girl clearly stated her source. Release her and pursue legal action properly.”
