Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has lent her voice to lupus awareness.
She urges empathy, understanding, and support for people living with the medical condition.

Akindele shared her experience after meeting individuals affected by lupus during her visit to Abeokuta for the Behind The Scenes meet-and-greet.
Also, she described the encounter as deeply moving.
She noted that connecting with the community reinforced the importance of telling stories rooted in compassion and self-love.
Speaking on the condition, the award-winning filmmaker emphasised that lupus is not contagious and should never be a basis for stigma or discrimination.
Also, she encouraged the public to show kindness and understanding to those living with the illness.
“My trip to Abeokuta for Behind The Scenes meet and greet was so much fun. I was surrounded by hugs, smiles, and gratitude that touched my heart deeply,” Akindele wrote.
“Meeting people living with lupus who felt seen through Behind The Scenes reminded me why stories rooted in empathy, self-care, and self-love truly matter.”
She further reassured those affected.
Also, she added, “Lupus is not contagious. It is a medical condition, not a label and never a reason to hide. To everyone living with it, you are not alone.”
