Nigerian music stars stole the spotlight on Sunday night, January 11, 2026, in Lagos as Burna Boy, Rema, Yemi Alade, Shallipopi, Phyno, Qing Madi and Chella clinched major honours at the 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

Rema emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night, taking home three prestigious awards.
The singer was named Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, and Best African Artiste in RnB and Soul, further cementing his influence on the global music scene.
Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy also had a strong showing, winning Album of the Year for his project No Sign of Weakness.
He also shared the Best African Collaboration award with Shallipopi for their joint effort, while Shallipopi’s hit track Laho earned him Song of the Year.
Yemi Alade was recognised for her contribution to film music, winning Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary for You Are, a song featured in the animated series Iyanu.
Indigenous rap heavyweight Phyno claimed the award for Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop, reaffirming his dominance in the genre.
Fast-rising talents also had their moment at the ceremony. Chella was named African Fans’ Favourite, while Qing Madi won Most Promising Artiste of the Year, beating a competitive list of nominees that included Cysoul, Joshua Baraka, King Luca, L’Oiseau Rare, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Massamba Amadeus, Rym, Kunmie and Fola.
