Actress Zainab Balogun has stirred fresh reactions online after addressing Nigerians who returned home for the festive season, popularly known as IJGBs.
In a candid Instagram video, she called out the group for contributing to the rising cost of services during the December celebrations.
Zainab Balogun noted that many IJGBs create content bragging about getting “$60 braids” and other cheap services in Nigeria, despite earlier warnings not to post such videos.
According to her, these posts have influenced local vendors, leading some to drastically increase their prices.
She cited an example of someone reportedly paying ₦800,000 for braids and a total of ₦2.5 million because the extensions were “human hair–infused.”
The actress emphasised that regular residents will not pay such inflated prices, stressing that the price surge is seasonal and targeted mainly at IJGBs.
She added that those who flew in for “Detty December” in Ghana, Nigeria, and other locations are the ones bearing the cost of the inflated festive economy.
