Actress Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, has lost the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) presidential election.

The election, held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, during the Guild’s annual general meeting in Benin, Edo State, saw Daniels narrowly defeated by the AGN National Secretary, Abubakar Yakubu.
Yakubu emerged victorious with 116 votes, while Daniels secured 113 votes.
Three ballots were declared void. His win makes him the first Northern actor to lead the Guild since its establishment in the 1990s.
The election result comes just weeks after former AGN President Emeka Rollas advised Daniels to focus on her daughter’s well-being rather than pursuing the presidency remarks that stirred reactions at the time.
