When asked directly if she now lives in New York, Ayra responded with a smile, saying, “I do,”
Also, she noted that she has been a resident for less than two months.
She explained that the shift wasn’t overwhelming because she had always been a frequent visitor.
“I’m always in New York anyway,” she said. “I’ve always been a New Yorker at heart.”
The singer revealed that the city resonates with her because it mirrors Lagos in energy, pace, and cultural vibrancy.
“New York reminds me a lot of Lagos,” she said.
She describes the environment as lively and familiar. “It feels like home.”
Ayra Starr added that the strong African presence in the city provides an additional layer of comfort.
