Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has opened up about one of the most shocking challenges she faced at the beginning of her acting career.

Speaking on an episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the actress revealed that one of her earliest obstacles in the industry was receiving outrageous and inappropriate scripts.
She recalled being handed a script that required her to “sleep with a dog,” a role she immediately turned down.
According to her, accepting such a script as a newcomer would have damaged her image and permanently shaped how audiences perceived her.
“Despite being a newcomer, I was given a script to sleep with a dog. I rejected it because I can’t start off my career like that.”
“Imagine my first ever movie, I’m sleeping with a dog. It doesn’t make sense,” she said.
“It is going to be a tag because whatever you start with is what people will associate you with.”
“I didn’t want to be renowned as someone who sleeps with dogs in movies.”
Nkechi Blessing added that after she declined the role, several other actresses immediately picked up the script, though she noted that none of them have risen to prominence in Nollywood.
Blessing said that shortly after leaving the production venue, she met veteran filmmaker Emeka Duru, who expressed interest in working with her.
He later gave her the opportunity to debut in Through The Fire, a film by Emem Isong, officially launching her Nollywood career.
