President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate withdrawal of police officers attached to Very Important Persons (VIPs) across the country.
He mandated that they return to core policing duties.

The directive followed a high-level security meeting held on Sunday in Abuja with heads of the Nigerian Police Force, Army, Air Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to the new policy, VIPs who require armed protection will now rely on personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Also, the government seeks to address critical shortages of police manpower, particularly in underserved and rural communities.
To further strengthen the nation’s security architecture, President Tinubu also approved the recruitment of 30,000 new police officers.
Also, this is alongside collaborative efforts with state governments to upgrade police training facilities nationwide.
