Former Manchester United defender, Axel Tuanzebe, is reportedly seeking £1 million in damages from his former club, alleging that their medical negligence harmed his career.

Tuanzebe, who now plays for Burnley, claims that United failed to treat a back injury properly during his time at Old Trafford, leading to long-term complications that continue to affect his performance.
The 27-year-old, who made 37 first-team appearances for United after rising through their academy, left the club in 2023 following the expiration of his contract.
After a stint with Ipswich Town, he joined Burnley in the summer.
According to Sky News, Tuanzebe’s lawsuit now lodged at the High Court in Londonaccuses Manchester United of “clinical negligence” for failing to investigate and treat his spinal stress fractures promptly.
Court documents allege that the club’s medical team “negligently failed to properly investigate” the fractures, did not allow him enough rest, and failed to refer him to a specialist sports spinal surgeon.
As a result, his condition reportedly worsened into chronic bilateral grade 4 fractures.
Axel Tuanzebe contends that with proper treatment, he would have avoided chronic pain and maintained a career “without restriction or impediment.”
The lawsuit argues the negligence has impacted both his playing ability and future earnings.
Tuanzebe joined Manchester United’s academy at age eight and spent 17 years at the club, also representing England at youth level before switching allegiance to DR Congo.
