Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially begun serving his 50-month federal prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey.

Law enforcement sources confirmed that the Diddy was transferred to the low-security facility Thursday, October 30, 2025, and checked in shortly after arrival.
The move follows Judge Arun Subramanian’s sentencing, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons approving Diddy’s request to serve time at Fort Dix.
According to his legal team, the facility was selected to help him focus on rehabilitation, address drug abuse issues, and maintain regular family visitation.
Diddy had been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024, where he was denied bail.
The MDC is notorious for overcrowding and violence, making his transfer to Fort Dix a significant change in conditions.
However, attorney Mark Geragos cautioned that despite the lower security level, the hip-hop mogul still faces potential danger behind bars.
Speaking on the 2 Angry Men podcast, Geragos said Diddy remains a target for possible sexual and violent assaults.
During sentencing, Diddy’s team revealed that he had previously faced threats, including an incident where another inmate allegedly held a knife to his throat while he slept.
Diddy’s projected release date is May 8, 2028, according to the Bureau of Prisons, though that could change based on conduct, rehabilitation progress, and other factors.
