Nigerian singer, Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, popularly known as Bella Shmurda, has voiced concern over the rising cost of music promotion in the country.

In a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, the Cash App crooner lamented that many artistes are now hesitant to release new songs or albums due to the high cost of production and promotion.

Bella Shmurda Decries Soaring Expenses In Music Promotion

Bella Shmurda explained that the financial burden of promoting multiple tracks within an album has become overwhelming, noting that even shooting a single music video now costs at least ₦20 million.

“To release an album, you need a huge budget, unlike singles. You’re promoting 10 to 14 songs all at once. Promoting songs on the radio, shooting videos for five or six songs—it’s a lot. These days, the least you can spend on a music video is ₦20 million. So, how many artists can afford that?” he said.
