When the Osun State Government announced its plan to revitalise the state’s sports sector, few expected that one of Nigeria’s biggest music stars would be at the centre of it.
In a move that blended fame with purpose, award-winning artiste David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund.

The announcement, made on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, marks a new chapter in the state’s mission to transform its sports landscape.
According to the government’s statement, Davido’s new role is more than symbolic it’s a call to action.
As Chairman, he will lead efforts to mobilise resources and drive the modernisation of sports facilities across Osun State.
Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also doubles as Commissioner for Sports, confirmed that Davido accepted the appointment with enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility.
“Davido’s involvement will attract substantial funds and inspire young people to believe that sports can change lives,” he said.
Adeyusi further revealed that the rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards is already underway, alongside plans to launch the Osun State Sports Commission a central body to oversee sports development and policy execution.
