During his lecture, titled “Leadership Principles for the Next Generation in Monetary Policy and Nation Building,” he painted a vision of a modern Nigeria driven by discipline, innovation, and inclusion.

Preparing for A Digital Future

Cardoso highlighted how digital technology transforms payments, savings, and investments, and he described the CBN’s regulatory sandbox and digital payment systems as tools actively preparing Nigeria for the future.

He encouraged young leaders to co-create ideas, persevere through challenges, and transform disruption into opportunity.

Modernising Systems, Inspiring Leaders

During a fireside chat, Cardoso outlined reforms modernising Nigeria’s financial system, including a transparent foreign exchange matching system and fully digitised internal processes.

These steps strengthen trust, improve efficiency, and boost credibility.

Meanwhile, Dean Olayinka David-West highlighted how the lecture series inspires dialogue between academia, government, and business while nurturing future leaders.

Finally, Cardoso reminded the audience that Nigeria’s economic story is still unfolding and that the next generation holds the pen.

Leaders who act with credibility, courage, and vision will write the chapters that define the nation’s future.
