The management of ARISE News Channel has announced the tragic death of its news anchor, reporter, and producer, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, popularly known as Sommie.

The 29-year-old journalist was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025.

According to the station, Sommie was more than just a media professional

Somtochukwu Maduagwu was a trained lawyer, a vibrant voice on air, and a supportive colleague whose presence enriched the newsroom.
