Spanish club Sevilla have confirmed the departure of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho after both parties agreed to terminate his contract, originally set to run until June 2026.

Iheanacho joined Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City last summer but struggled to make an impact at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium.
He managed just 15 appearances across all competitions in the first half of the 2024/25 season, scoring three goals, before being loaned out to Middlesbrough in January.
During his loan spell in England, the 28-year-old registered one goal and two assists in 15 matches.
However, his performances failed to convince Sevilla, and he was left out of the matchday squad for their opening three league fixtures this season, paving the way for his exit.
In an official statement, the club confirmed:
“Sevilla FC and Kelechi Iheanacho have reached an agreement to terminate the contract of the Nigerian striker.”
“Iheanacho joined the club last summer after ending his contract with Leicester City.”
The Super Eagles forward is now strongly linked with a move to Scottish champions Celtic, where a reunion with his former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers could be on the cards.
Kelechi Iheanacho next move will be pivotal as he looks to revive his career ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations.
