Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface is reportedly set to undergo surgery on a persistent knee injury, raising concerns about his availability for the remainder of the season.

The Nigeria international, who is currently on a season-long loan at Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, has endured a difficult campaign due to recurring fitness problems.
Victor Boniface has yet to complete a full 90 minutes for Bremen this season, managing just 326 minutes of action as a result of the injury.
According to reports from German outlet BILD, Bayer Leverkusen’s medical team has advised the forward to undergo surgery after the knee problem failed to improve.
The injury was sustained during a training session in early December and was initially considered minor, but the pain has persisted.
Discussions are said to be ongoing between Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, and Werder Bremen’s sporting director, Clemens Fritz, as both clubs seek to reach a joint decision on the best course of treatment before Christmas.
Boniface, who has previously suffered two cruciate ligament injuries, is expected to miss the rest of the season should he proceed with another operation.
