Nigerian singer Qing Madi has voiced her concerns about the challenges women face in the country’s music industry.

The American Love crooner lamented that the industry does not provide adequate protection or support for female artistes, noting that women often receive lower reception compared to their male counterparts.
Speaking on an episode of the Wahala Podcast, the 19-year-old singer stressed that women in music are unfairly criticised and pressured more than men.
“Women have to do twice as much work as their male counterparts. Women are oftentimes criticised for nothing. But they don’t do that to the men,” Qing Madi said.
“The men have the right to do whatever they like, but for the women, society just wants to box women so much.”
Despite these challenges, Qing Madi expressed pride in being a female artiste in Nigeria and praised other women in the industry for their resilience.
