Songwriter and Afrobeats star, Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has recounted how her collaboration with Davido on the smash hit Kante came to life.
In an interview on The Nancy Isime Show, Fave revealed that Davido personally reached out to her on Instagram after she had recorded the song months earlier.

“I had already recorded this song months before. Davido hit me up on Instagram and said, I’m wrapping up my album and I’d love you to be on it. I don’t want it to just be Davido featuring Fave — I want it to feel like our song,” she explained.
According to her, Davido chose Kante after she sent him three songs to pick from.
“So I sent him three songs, and he picked Kante,” she added.
Beyond the collaboration, Fave spoke about her love for writing and how her strict parents discouraged her from pursuing music while growing up.
They believed it would distract her from school.
She explained that despite this, she was always writing poems and songs, which later fuelled her artistry.

“Being an artiste now, I have to write deep — it’s just a part of me. But Kante was different. I wasn’t trying to be too deep on it because it’s a dance vibe. ‘Na gbedu’, you don’t need to put too much lyrics in it,” she noted.
