The Olubadan-elect of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, has pledged to run an inclusive and collective administration when he assumes the throne.

Ladoja gave the assurance on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, while hosting members of the Olubadan-in-Council at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, their first meeting with him in over two months.

The former governor expressed gratitude to the council for unanimously ratifying his candidacy, promising that their voices and opinions would be carried along in the affairs of the traditional institution.

“I want to promise you that as Olubadan, I will run a collective and all-inclusive administration that will take into consideration your opinions,” he said, noting that their support was vital to “taking Ibadan to the next level.”

The Olubadan-in-Council, led by the Otun Balogun, Oba Kola Adegbola, congratulated Ladoja and assured him of their loyalty, stressing that public expectations were high. They also pledged to support the success of the upcoming coronation ceremony.

Rasheed Ladoja explained that Governor Seyi Makinde, the Araba, and the Oluwo Afobaje would play key roles in the coronation, adding that the council would also be represented on the state’s coronation committee.

The session, which lasted about two hours, included a minute of silence for the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, and ended with lunch shared by the Olubadan-elect and the chiefs.

Present at the meeting were Obas Kola Adegbola, Olubunmi Isioye-Dada, Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Abiodun Azeez, Hamidu Ajibade, Akeem Adewoyin, and High Chief Sharafadeen Alli, who delivered the vote of thanks.
