Nigerians are raging at the moment, wondering why Betta Edu has to remain in office during the process of her investigation.
After it was made known that she gave the go-ahead for taxpayers’ monies to be paid into a private account belonging to her.
Of course, you can already begin to sense that something is not right.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has addressed the payment made by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs into a private account.
Mohammed reacted to the widespread information regarding the use of public funds by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

He said: “We are aware of the narratives circulating widely and wish to assure Nigerians that the Government takes these issues most seriously”.
According to him, “the President has directed that an investigation be conducted into the matter.
“President Bola Tinubu is committed to ensuring that allocated public funds are utilised effectively and efficiently to address the needs of Nigerians”.
The Allegation Of ₦585 million
However, Nigerians are not pleased with the statement issued by the Minister of Information and National Orientation.
You see, the allegation of paying a sum of ₦585 million into a private account by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, is an allegation that most Nigerians view as corruption.
They believe that, as a nation fighting against corruption, Betta Edu should not be in office while the investigation into her excesses is being conducted.
Or is it a case of what is good for the gander is not good for the goose?
Why should the National Coordinator, of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, Halima Shehu, be suspended while being investigated yet Betta Edu will remain in office?
Indeed, both government officials have done things that negate the code of ethics of their appointments. So, just like Shehu, Edu should be ordered to vacate office with immediate effect.
These are the opinions of most Nigerians.
