At a time that NYSC corps members are beginning to avoid the northern states of Nigeria due to issues of insecurity, a governor is pouring motivation in the streets for corps member who are daring.

Recently, stories of the kidnap of some corps members heading to Zamfara became another source of worry for other persons enlisting in the compulsory one-year service.

As a corps member, it usually is a nightmare to get posted to northern Nigeria.

Getting posted to Borno is even usually worse because the state has been ravaged by Boko Haram terrorists.

Interestingly, Zulum has prepared a mouth-watering palliative for this year’s Borno corps members. It is the first time in 13 years that corps members are gracing the state.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has announced the donation of ₦36 million to be shared at ₦30,000 each to the 1,215 National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members deployed to the state.

A statement on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Isa Gusau, read that Zulum made the donation during his visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Maiduguri.

Gusau said that Zulum also allocated 100 bags of rice, 10 cows, 10 bags of 100 kg of beans and 10 gallons of cooking oil for special meals to be prepared for the corps members during their ongoing three weeks orientation.

He urged the corps members to adhere to camp rules by living peacefully among themselves and engaging in acts that would foster peace in Nigeria.

The NYSC orientation resumed last week in Borno after 13 years of suspension due to insurgency.
