Recently, Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie made an unexpected announcement of establishing a ministry. This did not just strike Nigerians as a big surprise, but again, the controversial figure was left at the center of heavy criticism.
Months ago, Yul had told Nigerians that God called him to do his work. As at the time, many people did not pay much attention. His online controversy had become too much.
This made Nigerians to conclude that the one-time presidential aspirant was staging these controversies to generate traffic and gain impression, which would later translate to money for him.
It was not until Yul unveiled his church, that many people understood that the once divorced actor was not joking.
The Ugly Past
But trust Nigerians. In no time, Yul Edochie’s ugly past was staring him in the face, notable among the issues raised was the controversy surrounding his marriage.
“A man who cannot keep his home in order, how will he lead the flock orderly?”, many persons questioned.
Even in the Christian fold, there are certain criteria one has to meet before such a person can open a ministry.
Amidst the controversy, thousands, or do we say millions, of questions were raised.
The Many Questions
Many asked: Did God truly call Yul? Others wondered if the actor was qualified to lead the Children of God.
To many others, Yul is on another mission to cash out.
A funny, yet reasonable suggestion, insisted that Yul was eager to lead by all means, since he did not succeed in his political endeavour, he has entered into the ministry, after all, leadership is leadership.
But one question stood out. Why is Yul Edochie establishing this ministry?
Out of curiosity, we dug up a video of Yul telling people his sole aim of joining the ministerial work, to preach love.
You see, according to Yul Edochie, love is lacking in Nigeria, hence the many evils we see manifesting before our eyes.
He cited the kidnappings in the country and also the diversion of funds by politicians.
Evangelism Of Love
Yul maintains that such acts will not prevail in a society where love is preached.
He went as far as calling on religious leaders and his colleagues with large fan base to join in the evangelism of love.

Now that we have heard from the horse’s mouth, let us take a little time to ponder.
If truly, God works in a mysterious way, and his ways are not clear to man, then could this be God speaking to us through Yul?
We are not backing or kicking against Yul, we are just trying to open your mind to the unthinkable possibility.
Let’s not forget that God loves to use vessels considered by many to be ‘dirty’.
His past, his love life, his marriage and all are nothing one will want to associate with, but of course, God is one who calls and not man.
