Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, known for his music, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in Los Angeles.
This happened after a judge learned that Lanez had shot US artist Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during a disagreement.
The incident occurred after a party, and Lanez fired shots at her while she was standing on the road.
Lanez was found guilty of using a firearm in an assault, recklessly discharging a firearm, and carrying an unregistered firearm.
Prosecutors asked for a 13-year sentence, saying Lanez caused both physical and emotional harm to Megan Thee Stallion.
During the trial, Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, explained that Lanez had pointed a gun at her and shot her while telling her to dance.
She shared that the incident had a lasting impact on her well-being.
In court, there were letters supporting Lanez, including one from musician Iggy Azalea, who asked for a sentence that could lead to positive change for him.
The judge noted that while the crime involved using a weapon and a vulnerable victim, it was not proven to be extremely cruel or callous.
