Rather than provide justice, the government had chosen to brutally crack down on the protests resulting in the death of some and leaving many others injured.

In a statement from the White House, signed by the National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, the White House said the vote is a sign of growing demand for accountability in Iran.

The statement revealed that the United States had issued three separate sets of sections targeting Iran’s financing of terror, and protest-related human rights violations among others over the last week.

Sullivan revealed that “the recent horrifying executions in Tehran only strengthened our resolve to expand the growing consensus and pursue all possible mechanisms of accountability against the Iranian regime”.
