Not many were expecting anything negative for Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the Lagos State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

Almost everyone believes he has an upper hand in the governorship election in Lagos State and the Tribunal upheld that perception.

On Monday, the Tribunal threw out the petitions levelled against the victory of APC’s Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

This judgement is coming after the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 2023 election.

Judgment Day

In Lagos, on Monday, September 25, 2023, Justice Mikhail Abdullah rendered a verdict, dismissing the petitions brought forward by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and the Labour Party, as well as Olajide Adediran of the People’s Democratic Party.

These petitions were filed against the outcome of the March 18 governorship election in Lagos State.

Both Rhodes-Vivour and Adediran had contested the results of the said election.

They challenged the victory of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

However, during the judgment delivered on that day, Justice Mikhail Abdullah dismissed these petitions.

Now, the petitioners will decide whether to go to the Supreme Court or not.
