Atletico Madrid have decided not to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker, Edinson Cavani in this January transfer window.
DAILY POST had reported that Cavani has drawn interest from Atletico Madrid and Chelsea in recent weeks.
PSG have also announced Cavani’s price tag.
The Uruguay international has started just four games in Ligue 1 this season for PSG, having lost his place to Mauro Icardi who is on loan from Inter Milan.
He was also dropped from PSG’s squad that defeated Lille 2-0 on Sunday in the French Ligue 1 encounter.
His current contract with the Parisians is set to expire at the end of the season, when he will be available on a free transfer.
Reacting to the development, Atletico President, Enrique Cerezo, said the La Liga giants have not contacted Cavani about moving to the Wanda Metropolitano.
“There is absolutely nothing with the player [Cavani],” Cerezo told AS.
“We need to score goals and we have a great goalscorer, but what we are missing now is a bit of luck and we are not taking our chances.
“Transfers are always complicated but at the moment there is nothing.”
