Spotify has announced Chidozie Ugochinyere, popularly known as “Fave,” as its EQUAL Africa artist for November 2024.
This honour celebrates Fave’s captivating voice, thought-provoking lyrics, and unique style, solidifying her influence in Nigeria’s music industry.
Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, commended Fave’s impact, stating, “We’re thrilled to celebrate Fave as part of the EQUAL Africa programme. Her soulful voice and compelling lyrics have resonated globally, showcasing Africa’s vibrant music talent.”
Fave first rose to fame with her 2020 viral hit “N.B.U.” and has since released successful singles and critically acclaimed projects, including her debut EP Riddim 5 and her anticipated release Dutty Love on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Collaborations with Nigerian music heavyweights such as Olamide, Simi, Phyno, and Davido have further strengthened her presence in the music scene.
Her feature on Davido’s track Kante from the Timeless album ranked among Spotify’s Top 10 most-streamed songs in Nigeria for 2023, highlighting her popularity.
The EQUAL Africa programme aims to elevate African artistes by showcasing their talent to wider audiences. Fave’s selection reflects Spotify’s ongoing commitment to promoting African music across the globe.
