It started with a noise from the victim’s house in the night. The noise had stolen her neighbours peace and forced them out of their houses to find out what was happening.

The neighbours on getting to the house found Esther lying in a pool of blood.

Her left and right hands were cut off and a deep stab to her head.

The Attack

That was not all they found Oyelere was also found by the neighbours standing beside his mother, holding a sharp cutlass.

Oyeleye reportedly attacked his 65-year-old mother, Esther, on Tuesday over an unknown argument in Akibo village, the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun state.

An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity said Oyeleye also used the cutlass to inflict injuries on the aged woman’s head and legs.

The source stated that the victim was immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention.

The source said: “With a sharp cutlass in his hand, he severed both hands of his mother and caused another deep injury to her head and legs. We have taken the mother to the hospital for treatment.”

Police Investigate

The 30-year-old, Ayobami Oyeleye is currently chilling in police custody.

The Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident.

According to Odutola, the suspect had been arrested and an investigation was ongoing.

Odutola said: “The suspect is now in our custody.

“Our men visited the scene where the cutlass used to carry out the crime was retrieved. Currently, an investigation is ongoing.”
