Wonders, they say, shall never end. If not, how else can you explain a man robbing his wife under the same roof?
A 35-year-old man, Tijjani Ahmadu Diye, reportedly disguised as a woman in the night, armed himself with a pestle, assaulted, and tried to rob his wife in Bauchi, Bauchi State.
The state police command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, threw more light on what happened that night in a statement.
“On December 2, 2023, detectives attached to ‘A’ Division, Bauchi, arrested one Tijjani Ahmadu Diye for assault, causing grievous hurt, and attempting to commit an offence.
“In his confession, the suspect raised the false alarm that armed robbers had entered their house. He quickly entered the bedroom, met his wife, and asked her to cover her head with a scarf.
“He moved out of the room, covered his face with a scarf, armed himself with a pestle, came back to the bedroom, and started hitting her with the pestle.’’

Wakil said that the suspect further confessed that he intended to neutralise his wife, take their TV set, and sell it in order to raise money to stock his shop.
Could he not have explained this to the wife he married and obtain her permission?
If he had been prudent with his resources and the wife understood that selling the television was for growth, could she have still refused to give her approval?
