As rumoured before President Tinubu took over, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, walked into the net of the Department of State Services (DSS).
It is just a simple explanation of the saying that “what will be will be”.
Earlier in 2022, a court order had the attempt the arrest of Godwin Emefiele.
At the time, his allegation was on terrorism financing and the DSS has been waiting patiently for an opportunity to lay their hands on him.
Emefiele, who during his time as the governor of the CBN, introduced a host of failed policies with a goal to stabilise the exchange rate of the Naira against the dollar.

Allegations Of Crime Against Emefiele
Allegations from different sources kept emerging against the suspended CBN governor over the following
- Financing terrorism
- Aiding and abetting terrorism
- Funding of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)
- Fraud
- Money laundering
Emefiele who was suspended from office with immediate effect on Friday, June 9, 2023, by President Bola Tinubu was apprehended and is now in the custody of the DSS.
He will also have to answer questions bothering on how he is using his wife and siblings as front to establish multi-million dollar companies in the United Kingdom.
Mishandling Of Public Funds
Here are some companies under the names of the names of Emefiele’s wife and family members.
‘Coats Investment Group Limited with Company number 13662708 tucked away in Flat 3 Dexter Court, Dairy Close, London, England, SW6 4HA under Margaret Dumbiri Emefiele (WIFE of CBN Governor)’.
‘Emefiele Global Ltd with Company number 12041779 located at 45 Rubery Field Close, Rednal, Birmingham, England, B45 9WD under Emefiele Sunday (Family member-Director)’.
Also in the lots, is ‘Ndidi Emefiele Studios Limited with Company number 12593072 located at Building 4,Unit D Royal Ordnance Depot, Weedon, Northampton, England, NN7 4PS under Emefiele Ezumba (Family member-Director)’, Plus 5 other companies in London.
Frail And Weak Emefiele
Aside all this, he further put himself in trouble when he decided to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket, while still being the CBN governor.
Also, there were some school of thought that the cashless policy of the CBN as introduced by Emefiele was targeted at frustrating Tinubu’s chances of emerging at the polls.
That remains to be proved.

However, he has gently strolled into the open hands of the operatives of the DSS, who will use the opportunity to quiz him over the pending allegations hanging over his head.
It was observed that as Emefiele alighted from the vehicle that took him to the airport, he looked frail and weak. All in one day.
Does this mean that Godwin Emefiele has learnt from Dino Melaye and he is now perfecting his acting skills to garner sympathy from Nigerians?
Will this arrest yield any fruitful, result seeing as Femi Falana has undoubtedly pointed out that the DSS has no jurisdiction in making such arrests.
He says it is only the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that has the legal right to investigate and file charges against Emefiele.
