The high rate of unemployment in Nigeria is still a cash cow for internet fraudsters. One of their latest format is a claim that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is recruiting.

Indeed, the situation shows that many Nigerians are in need of a job.

Recently, the website of the NDLEA crashed less than 24 hours after it was opened for a recruitment exercise.

Now, scammers are exploiting this high rate of unemployment to ‘deal’ with Nigerians.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an attempt to save Nigerians from falling into the hands of these scammers faults reports that its portal is open for fresh recruitment of interested applicants.

There Is No Recruitment

In a statement on Sunday, Nigeria’s anti-graft agency warns citizens against falling prey to scammers.

The commission says that no recruitment is currently ongoing at its quarters.

The EFCC says the clarification is necessary after its attention was called to information circulating on social media.

The information is inviting unsuspecting applicants to submit applications through a dubious EFCC Recruitment 2023/2024 Application Portal dated April 7, 2023.

According to the statement, the fraudsters mischievously added career to the Commission’s Website address to read www.efcc.gov.ng/career, giving semblance to the genuineness of their schemes.

The anti-graft agency though admitted it will soon commence recruitment, but refused to disclose further details on when it will begin.

The EFCC urged members of the public to share its caution notes to WhatsApp groups to help others.

The commission adds that any information to the contrary circulating in the social media space is false.

“It is also the handiwork of mischief makers aimed at defrauding hapless job seekers.

Many have been arrested and prosecuted for such malicious and fraudulent activities.

The Commission said it would not hesitate to continue to apply the full wrath of the law to bring perpetrators to book.
